Join a Local YAAB

Who Can Join:

Youth and young adults with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability. Many YAABs also welcome youth passionate about ending youth homelessness.

Age Range: Typically 18–25 (may vary by region).

What Participation Looks Like:

Regular meetings (virtual, in-person, or hybrid), leadership and advocacy opportunities, youth-led projects, community connection, and compensation for your time.

Join the Statewide YAAB

Eligibility:

Youth or young adults ages 18–25 with lived experience, connected to a local YAAB or interested in statewide advocacy.

What You’ll Be Part Of:

Shaping policy and system-level decisions, connecting with youth leaders across Tennessee, having a voice at the table with CoC leaders and policymakers, and participating in advocacy and leadership development.

Application Process: Simple, youth-friendly application. No resumes or gatekeeping.

What to Expect

A welcoming space where your voice matters. You’ll join a community of young leaders who understand your experiences. Meetings are regular and accessible. Members are compensated — in the TN-507 YAAB, members earn $15/hour for their work. This is not volunteer work — your expertise has value.
